John Keells Office Automation (Pvt) Ltd. (JKOA), Sri Lanka’s leading provider of office automation solutions, together with CodeGen International (Pvt) Ltd helped unveil the country’s first-ever Smart Grade at the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Boys’ School. These Smart Classrooms are powered by XOLO Smart Classroom software developed and managed by CodeGen under the Cloud Smart School Education Solutions endorsed by the Ministry of Education.
Through this pioneering initiative, the entire 8th Grade of the school comprising 5 classrooms and 160 students was transformed into a Smart Grade. JKOA provided TACTEASY Smart Interactive Boards for the XOLO Smart Classroom initiative while CodeGen International provided comprehensive technical knowledge, guidance and training for teachers and students on how to use the platform. The students now have the opportunity to use Smart Interactive Boards and Smart Tablets to engage in their day-to-day studies.
The Smart Grade was unveiled by Dr. Harsha de Silva, the Minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution, during a special ceremony held with the participation of Principal of the school, Anil Wanaguru, teachers and well-wishers. In January 2017, Dr. Harsha De Silva pioneered the XOLO Smart School project in Sri Lanka by establishing the first Integrated Smart Classroom as a pioneer project at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Boys School. Since inception, 17 students in Grade 7 have used this facility to educate themselves and excel in their studies during the pilot project. Education solution powered by CodeGen, being a cloud-based school management and learning solution, organizes and optimizes the student learning process intuitively and in real-time. The system operates on a fully integrated platform while providing a connected, cohesive eco-system for educators and students.
TACTEASY and IQ Smart Interactive Boards act as the hardware solution provider to facilitate the XOLO Smart Classrooms. These Smart Interactive Boards are available in two sizes – 86” and 96” – and come with an aluminum frame and steel nano screen. Students and teachers can interact with the board using touch gestures supported by pen and hand or other opaque objects. It provides 10 simultaneous touchpoints, allows 01 to 10 users to write concurrently and supports over 60,000,000 times single spot touch. Easy to use in schools, institutes and workspaces, this wall-mounted device meets all international certifications including CE, ROHS and FCC.
